A new event venue and bar opens this weekend in the CBD above Walk-Ons Bistreaux & Bar in the former Rampart Room space. Vintage Rock Club (1007 Poydras Street) is available for events seven days a week. From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, it’s open to the public as a bar.

The renovated space features interior design by Jennie West of Studio West Design & Architecture. Though the venue’s name evokes images of gritty metal clubs, Vintage Rock Club’s vibe is decidedly sleek and upscale. A stairwell illuminated by purple lights leads to a 3,000-square-foot space, where five separate lounge areas are delineated via low-slung white couches.

The mirrored bar features white stone and hand-screened, gilded wallpaper by Flavor Paper. The Brooklyn-based wallpaper brand originated in New Orleans, and this particular pattern was created in collaboration with a former New Orleanian: Lenny Kravitz.

Large-screen TVs playing music videos and concert footage line the walls. An accent wall hung with vinyl records faces the restroom entrances, where mirrored walls and stalls invite selfies.

Exposed brick lends texture to the space, as do velvet curtains, which also block ambient light from the wraparound balcony. This 1,000-square-foot balcony and its views of Poydras and South Rampart streets are one of the venue’s best attributes.

Vintage Rock Club opens this Saturday, October 27 at 10 p.m.
